Community naming study
The crowd has
a clear favorite.
We screened every submission before counting. One family of spellings rose well above a wonderfully weird field of 2,083 unique ideas.
01 · The leaders
One race.
Two honest views.
Exact mode keeps every spelling separate. Grouped mode combines only the common Cody variants, so the family signal is visible without fuzzy-matching the rest of the field.
02 · The spelling family
Same sound.
Fourteen expressions.
14.6% of all rankable responses.
What changed?
Grouping adds 193 votes to the leading signal. Codey, Codie, Codi, Coddy, and Codee account for most of that lift.

04 · The field
A favorite,
not a landslide.
The leading signal is strong, but the community remains inventive: more than four out of five suggestions sit outside the top ten exact names.
18 highlighted dots represent the top ten share. 82 muted dots represent the remaining suggestions.
There is a clear direction—and still plenty of room for a delightful wildcard.
How quickly the leading candidates accumulate response share.
One-off ideas are abundant—and still account for 50.9% of all rankable responses.
05 · Name anatomy
Short names.
Strong consonants.
The distribution favors compact names: the median candidate is five characters, and more than half of all suggestions land in the five-to-seven-character range.
Response momentum
3,467 clean responses over 13 days.
66.6% of clean responses arrived during the first three survey days.
Completion pace

07 · Trust the count
Filtered first.
Counted second.
What was filtered?
English profanity and slur screening ran before extraction or aggregation. It included Unicode normalization, common leetspeak normalization, separated-character detection, and conservative compound checks.
How were names counted?
Exact counts are case-insensitive after light whitespace, punctuation, and explanation trimming. Grouped counts combine only common Cody spellings; every other candidate remains exact.
What stayed private?
Email, name, GitHub username, and X handle fields are absent from this site and its cleaned exports. Excluded text is never rendered.
Automated language filtering is heuristic and English-focused. Finalists should receive a brief manual review before publication.
